At Snappy, our philosophy is to spread smiles. Not only with fun gifts but by giving back to the community. To show our commitment to making a difference, we recently launched a company-wide initiative of giving called Snappy Gives Back.
Snappy Gives Back encourages our fellow Snappies to take time off from their busy workday for one week every quarter to volunteer with a cause they care about.
From donating gifts to nurses to mentoring high-risk students, let’s take a look at some of the amazing ways our team gave back during our very first Snappy Gives Back week:
Donating gifts to frontline nurses
As the fight against COVID-19 continues, there's no better time to show appreciation to nurses than now. Snappy teamed up with IAC Cares, an organization that aims to match volunteers with organizations in need of support, to deliver gifts to the nurses at a local cardiac intensive care unit.
The Snappy team made gift bags filled with fun surprises including a Snappy plushie, candle, world-famous cookies, and, of course, a Snapcode to receive a Snappy gift of their choice from a custom-made nurses collection. The Snappy mascot delivered the gifts to the hospital-- spreading many smiles and laughs along the way.
Mentoring high-risk students
Another group of Snappies partnered with Publicolor to share their skills in a mentorship program. Publicolor is a not-for-profit organization based in New York that engages high-risk students to encourage academic achievement, college preparation, job readiness, and community service.
“I’ve been working with Jolisa who is a junior at the College of Staten Island studying Journalism and Communications,” said Gil Schpero, Snappy’s Director of Client Services. “We are working together to land an amazing internship opportunity for Jolisa for the 2021 Summer which will also fulfill a graduation requirement! We’re building a Linkedin page, creating a target list of internships to apply for, and some dynamic cover letters that can be used for lots of applications.”
Providing groceries to families in need
The Operations team in New York volunteered together with The Connected Chef to help provide groceries to families in need who are living in Queens. The Connected Chef was originally started by restaurant chefs to show families how to grow and cook food, however, when the pandemic hit they pivoted to providing groceries to families with food insecurity. Currently, they are providing groceries to 900 families a week.
“I was so honored to work with our team to help pack and organize food to be delivered to families,” said Lilian Chen, an Operations Manager at Snappy. “Snappy, thanks so much for encouraging us to donate our time!”
Delivering meals to the sick
God’s Love We Deliver cooks and home-delivers nutritious medically tailored meals for people too sick to shop or cook for themselves.
“What this organization accomplishes is amazing! When COVID lockdown hit, I decided we had to do something to help people who were hungry and unable to provide for themselves,” said Natalie Rosenthal, EA to the CEO at Snappy. “My son and I have been delivering meals by either driving or walking to apartment buildings all over the city since then. The recipients show such appreciation and joy whenever they see us at the door. Some hang around to chat and tell us jokes - we love bringing smiles with the food!”
We’re so proud of everyone who volunteered during our first Snappy Gives Back Week. We believe there’s always time to make the world a little brighter and we’ll be spreading more good news from Snappy Gives Back Week throughout the year.
